Frameless Shower Enclosures with Channel
A frameless shower enclosure is a glass shower unit that uses a minimal amount of metal framing, allowing larger pieces of glass to be utilized that provide cleaner, unobstructed sight lines. One of the first methods of building frameless showers utilized placing a small channel, approximately 1” or less, along the bottom and wall side of the glass panels. This method is still very popular today and due to less fabrication and modification that needs to be done to the glass this offers a more cost effective solution for frameless showers.
While today the popularity of frameless channel showers has waned in favor of frameless showers with clips, they are still utilized in mass across Southern California.
Frameless showers using channel are available in almost the same options as their clip counterparts. They are made of either ⅜” or ½” thick heavy glass depending on the glass type chosen and have a wide variety of hardware colors. Standard hardware colors including Chrome, Brushed Nickel and Oil Rubbed Bronze. The only difference between the two? The channel around the perimeter as seen in the pictures on this page.
